I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought summer was supposed to be the time of year when you get to spend time with your family, relaxing and doing fun things. Excuse me as I step up onto my soap box for just a moment...Today's society, I believe, has our kids doing too much to get them to be a)more well rounded or b)better at their sport, instrument, etc. The end result being that too much time is being taken away from family. Case in point, almost as soon as high school softball is over, summer league starts, which isn't officially required, but strongly suggested to get them better for next year. Ok, I can deal with that, but my biggest peeve right now is freakin' football. I only have every other weekend off work, and the past 2 weekends that I've been off, Steve has had some sort of football tournament/camp. Plus they have workouts every weeknight at the school. Can you tell I'm a coach's wife in major burnout mode? We've been going year round with various sports the past 2 years and I'm so in need of a break. Ok, I'm off my soap box now....Anyhoo... Here's Steph at her summer league game, she had an awesome catch in the outfield.
Here's Alex at the game, putting his newly aquired walking skills to use on the wide open grass.
Yesterday I thought to myself, "Well, if I'm going to have any fun at all this summer, Alex and I will just have to be buddies and make our own fun!" We went to the pool for the first time and he loved it.
Nothin' cuter than a baby in a swim suit "waddling" around.

Wow!! I cant believe he can walk. He is getting so big...and cuter by the day!
How is life at the hospital?? Any major changes?
I have to agree about all the extra activities taking away from family time. Way to go in taking a stand and making your own summer fun. Has Stephanie gotten her license back yet?
Oh my gosh, he's walking! I can't believe it! He is sooo cute!
The other problem with coaching is that they pay them about $0.05 per hour! I know Steve's a great coach - and you're a great coaches wife!
Alex is darling and you can tell that he just loves life and is such a happy guy! I can't believe that he's a year old already - wow!
So glad you have your handsome little man to keep you company this summer :) I agree, the sports training is out of control!
