BUSTED!!!

World record for shortest lived driving privileges: 36 hours
Record holder: Stephenie Lilly

That's right, my sweet little never been grounded a day in her life Stephenie, got her driver's license Monday morning. It was then parentally revoked in the wee hours of Wednesday. I compare her to the character of Frodo from "Lord of the Rings", a good kid who succumbs to the overwhelming power of the ring when putting it on (or the power of the license when putting it in your wallet).

Here's the scene: Lana is at the hospital working a night shift, Steve's at home with the baby, Steph is getting off work...

Steph calls Lana, "Can I please hang out with Aleshia, I haven't seen her since school got out?"
Lana (feeling gererous): "Ok, but be home by 12:15 at the latest."
Steve calls Lana, "It's 12:35, where's Steph?"
Lana calls Steph, "Where are you?"
Steph, "I'm getting in the car right now."
Steve (not sure if he should be frantic or furious), calls Lana, "It's 12:55 where's Steph?"
Lana calls Steph, "WHERE ARE YOU?"

Yada, yada, yada, in a nutshell what it comes down to, is that Steph had been wanting to go visit a boy she met recently who lives on the other side of town. Of course, I say no way are you driving at night to an area you're not familiar with, but Steph and her hormonal teenager self apparently thought she had the perfect plan. Until...she finds herself lost at almost 1:00 in the morning. In the downtown area, a 16 year old girl, alone, lost. Lovely.

Needless to say, I've had a grand time the past few days having round the clock access to Steph's cell phone (which she normally has on her person 24/7 because she knows I like to snoop and read her texts). I'm sure it's killing her (that's my plan, anyways). And, whenever Steve and I choose to reinstate her driving prilileges, hopefully she'll appreciate it that much more.

That being said, I have to confess that I remembered the other day that I pulled almost the same exact stunt when I was a teenager. The lesson learned from this experience: for Steph, 'your parents are a lot smarter than you think'. For me, 'payback is a *!?#%'. For my mom and dad, 'revenge is sweet!!'

Way to go Stephanie. It's actually a pretty funny story, but I'm sure I won't think it's that funny 12 years from now.

You kill me Lana. And I cannot believe your little Steph is old enough to do this to you. Now, I am feeling old. Super old. Good luck.
