My sweet little cuddly baby is now a full fledged feisty toddler. He has started hitting already! Usually when big sister is squeezing the life out of him and trying to kiss and cuddle. (When he was a little baby Steph wished he was bigger so he would do more. Now she wishes he were a little baby again!) So the other day Steve put him in time out. Yeah, I know a 14 month old probably doesn't really "get it" but I can't bear slapping his little hands or anything, yet am trying to teach him that's not nice behavior. A raised voice works for a second or two. Anybody have any suggestions?
It Is Enough

I have 0 suggestions. My kids are entirely too spoiled. You are a good parent though, time-out seems like a much better option than slapping his hand. I know I've said it before but I will say it again, he is a very cute boy!
I was thinking the same thing last week! Keaton is totally a tantrum-throwing toddler. I dont know how you discipline at this age??? He is a cutie though!
It's so hard, huh? I'm trying new things w/ my little girls. I do the, "Uh oh!" when they are into something naughty. (Love and Logic) I have tried the naughty spot on the steps also.(the Nanny show) But really, I just heard something the other day that time-outs don't really work because they don't understand until they are about age 2. Maybe you saw it on GTU also? They said distraction, ignore, or whatever you can think of! I still struggle w/ how to handle my kids! You're doing a great job!
I am so glad you updated your blog! I think when mommy uses a serious voice at that age it helps. Also when they are yelling you talk quieter so they have to be quiet to listen. I don't know....we have tried everything and are still trying. Although, seriously me staying calm has been the most effective!
Man, I think time out is really the best thing out there. My friend has a baby the same age and he LAUGHS when he is in time out. He is so cute.
I agree that the serious voice works for a while. But then they hit two and there's no hope. My little one is old enough where the serious voice is just funny, but he still doesn't quite grasp time out. Plus they're just so dang cute!! How could you stay mad at that little guy??
yes:) Jeff and I check online after every volleyball and football game to keep up on the teams. Football is always updated promptly... volleyball I usually have to wait a few days... Alex is getting so big!
Good luck! It's only gonna get worse! I thought Ezra would grow out of it, but now he's biting... What to do?!
